An LGBTQ+ support organization serving Hampton Roads, VA
June 22, 2025 • Chesapeake City Park • Chesapeake, VA
The primary goal of Pride in the ‘Peake is to remain a free, family-focused, community event that provides information on services throughout our community and the immediate area. In the future, we aim to secure funding through grants and sponsors to allow us to provide scholarships to local high school students who embody the spirit of our mission. Furthermore, we intend to one day have a physical meeting space to provide a safe place for families and youth to meet and connect throughout the year.
Pride in the Peake’s mission is to enhance the lives of LGBTQIA+ families in the city of Chesapeake through support, education, and affirming community activities throughout the year.
A determining factor to the success and growth of Pride in the ‘Peake has been building strong networks throughout the community and collaborating with local Pride organizations. Each Pride in Hampton Roads offers a unique experience for attendees. With our event, we provide Chesapeake and nearby North Carolina residents the opportunity to attend a Pride event that ensures a safe environment for all to express their authentic selves without exposure to adult themes or alcoholic beverages being served by our vendors.
Pride in the ‘Peake is a 501©3 founded after co-founders Amber Bowmer and Jeremy Rodden hosted the first event in 2022. By incorporating into a non-profit, Pride in the ‘Peake has been able to continue operations for an annual Pride event in June as well as participating in local events throughout the year to raise awareness about the event, mental health issues, community services, and advocate for LGBTQIA youth in Chesapeake.
